Rugby League is a very fast and physical sport requiring the many of the skills of football players. It combines the requirements of a defence man, an offensive player and even special teams in one athlete. Players in the 13 a side version of Rugby are required to play for the whole game and to take on all of the responsibilities.

The Toronto Wolfpack based in Lamport Stadium, Toronto, Canada and is a new club which has been admitted to the British Rugby League for the 2017 season, one of only two fully professional competitions in the world and they are seeking to give opportunities to North American athletes who, by their nature, have the ideal mental, athletic and skills make-up to be world class.

In a unique exercise, the Wolfpack are offering open try out sessions in seven cities across North America starting in August in Vancouver and visiting Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, Montreal and completing the tour at home field in Toronto in mid-October. The whole tour and the search will be filmed in a “docuseries” called Last Tackle to be aired later in the year.

Toronto Wolfpack Director, Adam Fogerty, is excited by the project and keen to stress the open nature of the opportunity:

“We are fully aware of the fantastic sporting talent in both Canada and the USA and we have this opportunity to give some athletes a break in professional sport. We also expect competition for places from European and Australasian athletes who will travel in to take part in the tour and try to secure a contract. I would encourage the young sportsmen of America to seriously consider trying out for the Wolfpack, all you have to do is visit the website, read the details and sign up – it’s that simple.”

“I was fortunate enough to play professional Rugby League and I can say from experience that it is one of the most exciting and fulfilling sports around. It is athletic, intelligent and immensely challenging – not everyone has what it takes but those that do can really excel very quickly”
